Novel approaches to policy-making for a changing environment
Overview
A series of governance tools and policy designs are being tested in Europe with the aim of getting ahead of disruption, building resilience and creating the right conditions for innovation to flourish. Efforts are being made, at the EU and national levels, to reduce the regulatory burden and make regulation more agile, transparent, evidence-based and backed by stakeholders’ participation.
What novel, future oriented policy solutions are being developed – or should be developed – to support the green transition, improve the business environment and drive positive changes in consumer behaviours? How can policy design and implementation create the best possible conditions for innovation to thrive? Where are the opportunities for collaboration between key stakeholders at all stages of the policy design/regulatory process and how can co-creation be leveraged? What is the role of behavioural insights in the consumer policy-making process and what are examples of successful adoption?
This briefing, organised by FT Live in partnership with Philip Morris International (PMI), will bring together policy makers, regulators, academic and business leaders to discuss the latest trends in public governance innovation. Taking place in Prague at the time of the 2022 Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this event will focus on progressive and adaptive policy solutions to improve government and consumer outcomes.
